Karen Metz, Coloured Pencil

Coloured pencils are a very versatile medium. Drawings can be wispy and etherial or highly realistic.

This workshop will focus on creating intense, dense colour drawings that are somewhat similar to oil paintings. We will start with a few basic tech- niques such as, colour blending, and building up layers.

After the brief introduction to coloured pencils you will have the opportunity to work on one drawing of your choice.

Coloured pencil works well for portraits, wildlife drawings, or still life objects.

You may bring a line drawing that you have created beforehand or may do this in class.

our drawing should be based on a clear reference image, prefer- ably with good light, and you should bring this im- age with you to the class.

(You can have many different images of your subject you choose to draw.) Alternatively you may bring an object you want to draw.

This workshop is for everyone. Almost everyone has used coloured pencils in the past and hopefully you will learn new techniques and have fun.

The cost of the workshop will be $75 with some materials supplied. Minimum of 6 participants and maximum of 16.
