Lorna has always been interested in the creative process. Over the years she pursued courses in pottery, weaving and spinning, but it wasn't until she was encouraged by her husband to take lessons at the Orleans Visual Art Centre that she fell in love with the fine art of drawing.

Fascinated with the transparency and glow achievable with watercolour Lorna eventually turned to painting. She has studied with well-known Ottawa artists Mary Nunn, Nancy Myron and Crystal Beshara.

After retiring and moving to Rideau Lakes Lorna has been able to devote more time to her painting. Just recently, she found acrylic paint and has begun exploring the options this medium offers.

Whether working in watercolour or acrylic Lorna enjoys the challenge of using colour and light to create realistic images of flowers, horses or people. Her subjects are often viewed from a close-up perspective and as a result are only partially depicted on the paper or canvas.

Her art work is in private collections across Canada.
