Watercolour classes offered at a nearby school introduced me to a new and exciting world.

Some time later, feeling adventuresome, I signed up for a class near Wawa. This was my first introduction to acrylic and mixed media and I immediately fell in love with the intense colour, the texture and the opportunities for experimentation allowed by the acrylic paints.

Having moved to Smiths Falls, I enrolled in classes offered by St. Lawrence College and completed my Fine Arts Certificate programme and graduated with distinction.

Membership in the Ottawa Mixed Media Artists Association, Rideau Lakes Artists’ Association and the St. Lawrence College, Fine Arts Alumni Association, Brockville Chapter keep me busy and very involved in the art community in eastern Ontario.

My art has been displayed at group shows and in galleries, such as Brushstrokes in Carleton Place and The Studio Theatre, in Perth. “Calico Cats Come Out to Play” received an Award of Excellence and a Juror’s Choice Award at an OMMA show at the Britannia Gallery in Ottawa. “On Gossamer Wings” was voted the People’s Choice Award at a Rideau Lakes Artists’ Association show. “It’s a Topsy, Turvy, Tilly World of Joy and Love and Light” received the Best in Show award at a St. Lawrence College Alumni show at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery in Brockville.

Art is an exciting, challenging and integral part of my life.

Now I must go paint!
