Dorothy Hudson

Dorothy started painting in 2005, after retiring from a career in education. With lots of free time suddenly available, she wanted to find something completely different to pursue. Dorothy attended a beginners' class in acrylic painting in Smiths Falls in the fall of 2005, and has been painting ever since.

In 2011, Dorothy joined the Rideau Lakes Artists' Association. She has participated in various RLAA art shows in Westport, including Art in the Barn in 2014 and 2015. She has also shown her work at the Heritage House Museum in Smiths Falls, at Coffee Culture in Smiths Falls and at a juried show at the Brockville Arts Centre.

Dorothy paints Canadian landscapes, using acrylics on canvas. She works from photographs, mostly her own, of scenes captured while travelling afar or hiking close to home. She has always loved being close to nature, and enjoys representing the calming effects of the natural environment in her paintings.
